Responsibilities:
The Planning and Development Department promotes and plans for the future vitality, livability and prosperity of this remarkable City and all its people.
The Planning and Urban Development Department’s work involves overseeing and directing all planning and urban development activities including:
Long Range (Comprehensive) Planning;
Regulation and enforcement of the City’s Zoning, Site Plan Subdivision and Historic Preservation Ordinances and maintenance and update of such ordinances;
Review of building plans for compliance with state and local building codes, issuance of Building Permits, and inspection of construction and issuance of certificates of occupancy;
Administration of City housing assistance programs;
Administration of federal application process for community development and redevelopment assistance.
